In a new achievement that reflects the continued brilliance of young Moroccan talent in digital innovation, Huawei Morocco, in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, announced that a Moroccan student team has qualified for the finals of the global Tech4Good competition, to be held in China in April 2025.

The journey began in the city of Essaouira as part of Huawei’s «Seeds for the Future» program, launched to equip young people with tools for technological innovation. The Moroccan team stood out in various stages of the North Africa regional competition, which brought together 160 young participants from 17 countries.

The qualifying team, made up of six students selected from 18 Moroccan participants, presented a pioneering project titled Smart Aquaponics—an innovation that combines Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing technologies to develop sustainable food production systems. The solution features smart management of water and nutrients and offers a practical, intelligent response to global challenges related to water scarcity, according to a statement from Huawei Morocco.

The team members come from prestigious Moroccan universities and institutions, including Al Akhawayn University, Moulay Ismail University in Meknes, Ibn Tofail University in Kenitra, and the Suptech Santé School. Their project was praised by the jury for its innovation and quality, as well as the students’ strong awareness of sustainable development issues and modern technology.

During the final stage in China, the team benefited from a rich experience that included field visits to leading tech companies—most notably Huawei’s headquarters—along with advanced training workshops and mentoring sessions led by international experts. These opportunities helped enhance and refine their project ahead of its presentation to a global judging panel.

Commenting on the achievement, Jason Chen, Vice President of Huawei Morocco, said: «The qualification of the Moroccan team for the Tech4Good finals reflects the growing spirit of innovation among Moroccan youth and reaffirms our commitment to supporting national talent through strategic initiatives like Seeds for the Future. We are confident that investing in the energy of youth is the best path toward a sustainable digital future».
