In Ceuta, Mohamed leads as the most common name

Mohamed, Ahmed, and Garcia, in that order, are the most common first names among citizens born in Ceuta, according to data published on Tuesday by the Spanish National Institute of Statistics for the year 2024.

Local media report that 7,750 people have «Mohamed» as their first name and 7,479 as their middle. Notably, 1,731 individuals are registered as «Mohamed Mohamed», meaning the name appears as both their first and middle name. «Mohamed» remains the most prevalent name in both Ceuta and Melilla, consistently topping the list year after year.

As for «Ahmed», 3,097 Ceuta residents bear it as their first name, and 2,880 as their middle. Meanwhile, «Garcia» is held by 2,217 people as their first name and 2,059 as their middle.

Rounding out the top ten most common names are Abdelsalam, Sanchez, Gonzalez, Rodriguez, Lopez, Perez, and Fernandez. Ranking 11th to 15th are Martin, Ruiz, Jimenez, Gomez, and Abdelkader.
