Moroccan engineering firm Construction Management Services (CMS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ghana’s Ministry of Education to support the establishment of two new public universities in the country. The announcement was made on July 15 by Ghana’s Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu.

«In line with the government’s plan to establish two public universities in Jasikan and Kintampo, I signed two separate MoUs with Gharably Integrated Engineering Company (GEICO) and CMS Group, from Egypt and Morocco respectively», the Minister stated in a Facebook post.

He added that both companies «expressed their willingness to partner with the Ministry of Education to achieve this goal», emphasizing that «the universities will be a transformative step towards inclusive national development and help address the skills shortages in the respective regions».

The agreement is «another milestone in the partnership between Morocco and Ghana», wrote Morocco's ambassador to Ghana Imane Ouaadil on X on Wednesday.
