Morocco’s newly-appointed ambassador to the United States, Lalla Joumala Alaoui, met on Monday the US President Donald Trump at the White House. During their meeting, Lalla Joumala expressed the respect and appreciation the two nations hold for each other. Indeed, she referred to the historical and diplomatic ties between Morocco and the US when the Kingdom was the first country to recognize the independence of the USA in December 1777.

The Moroccan ambassador emphasized also the two nations' efforts that worked on promoting democracy, peace and tolerance. For several decades, these ideals have formed the basis of a strong political and military partnership between Rabat and Washington noting that «this year marks the 240th anniversary of our diplomatic relations» as Lalla Sharifa stated.

Talking about the achievements that characterized the bilateral diplomatic relations between Morocco and the US, Lalla Joumala pointed out that the Kingdom had been a strong ally for the USA throughout the years referring to the 2004 trade agreement.

«The growing partnership between the Kingdom and the United States carries a promise of greater qualifications, supported by the deep commitment expressed at the highest level in the country, serving a future of shared prosperity and a shared vision of regional and international challenges», she said.

With regards to the Middle East and Africa, Al-Sharifa insisted that the Kingdom of Morocco «will spare no effort to support the United States initiatives for peace, stability and prosperity in these parts of the world.»
